Retirement Planning

Ready to retire or already retired?

I can help you with my vast knowledge of superannuation, tax, investments, Centrelink and how these all work together.

Robert Daniele advising a client.
  • Thinking about retiring and it’s coming up sooner than expected (or as expected)?
  • Already retired and finding financially things are hard to manage?
  • Just been made redundant or health has forced an earlier retirement?

This is where I can help. I don’t have a crystal ball, but I do have a vast knowledge of superannuation, tax, investments, Centrelink and how these all work together. What I don’t know, but will discover is why you are retiring and what retirement means to you. We will determine what your plans are for the short term and long term and what type of income you will need to live comfortably.

Once we have figured out your goals and what exactly you need in retirement, I will work with you to put the “wheels in motion”:

  • Setting up an income stream from your superannuation.
  • Making sure your investments align with your risk appetite.
  • Getting your Centrelink entitlements setup (if applicable) and talk to Centrelink on your behalf so you don’t have to.
  • Working out the financial impact of downsizing your current home, selling an investment property, upgrading a car, purchasing a caravan or going on a holiday so you can make informed decisions.

Then really making sure all your income sources are coming in stress free so you know confidently what you can spend, what the impact will be and have some financial modelling to see where your financial position will take you.

Founder and Operator

What gives me satisfaction from work and being a small business owner is having the extra time to be able to work with clients through one of life's biggest transitions. Whether it is a planned retirement, or unplanned due to health/redundancy or any other reason it doesn't make it any easier for the person going through it. I try my best to take away the financial stress and make sense of our complex retirement system.

Redundancy planning

You have suddenly been made redundant

For some it can be a nice bonus to lead in retirement and for others, it can be quite a shock - leaving you with no clue on what to do next.

Whatever it is, I can help. For a lot of people, they may have heard from a friend/family/work colleague to do XYZ after being made redundant. However, this is the time to take advantage of personalised advice as redundancy’s can affect a lot of areas whether that be:

  • Tax and working out how to minimise it.
  • Centrelink - finding out what you may or may not be entitled to.
  • Superannuation - how it will affect your overall retirement savings and what the long term outlook may be.

Stopping work due to health

You may need to stop work due to your health and wellbeing

Now similar to a redundancy, you may have known it was coming as your underlying issues might have become worse, or it was an unexpected event.

It can confronting when going back to work isn’t an option, even though it isn’t what was planned. Rest assured I have worked with a lot of clients in this area to make the most of what you have and plan for the future as best as we can.

There may be extra medical expenses we have to account for now and in the future. But lets not forget to fit in the some of the nice to haves if we can, as they are still important. Together we will map out a plan to try to cover as many bases as we can.

FAQ

Please also refer to the FAQ on the home page for more general questions.

  • Can you assist with setting up an income stream or pension account?
Yes I can and in most cases for someone over 60 in retirement, this can be a good choice. However sometimes the obvious answer isn’t always the correct answer for you. Depending on your situation and age for example, sometimes it may not be the best fit for you as it can have other implications on things like potential Centrelink entitlements.
  • Do you understand what is available through Centrelink to assist in meeting my income needs?
Centrelink has many different entitlements, some are asset tested, some are income tested and some they will consider both your assets and income. I will work with you to work out what you are eligible for or what you could potentially be eligible for by structuring things right.
  • How do I know if I have enough for retirement?
Well we won’t know straight away, but that is something that we will work out. Some clients are happy to retire early and spend all their money within say 5 years - yes they may run out, but we may have incorporated in their plan that they may downsize their home to free up funds for later on in retirement. Everyone is different and I will work with you to determine what the opportunity cost is of each decision you make.
  • Do you offer free quotes? What are your fees?
Yes we do offer free quotes. For more information on fees, please refer to the “What are your fees?” answer in the home page FAQ.
